Luca Durante

Biography

Born in Taranto on March 18, 1980, Luca Durante begins his musical walk at the age of 9, developing a passion not only for his guitar, but also for singing and composing. After growing up under the pop music influence and participating to many different activities in his native province, in the year 2000 he decided to leave his hometown for a while and follow the itinerant mission Christ is the answer, where he gets closer to Christian music and gets to know and work closely with the Afro-American worship leader Steve Hubbard. Later Luca starts to work also with other Italian and foreign Christian artists, all over the Italian boot.
In 2003 Luca participates to the Arzano Festival, not far from Naples, and plays with two important names of the jazz panorama, Francesco Licciardi and Adamo De Santis. With the latter, famous drummer, Luca develops a wider partnership that would later bring Francesco to work with Luca at his first CD.
Still in 2003, with Wendell Warman's help, American guitar player and song writer, Luca starts to work at his first CD, Io sto cercando Te (I am looking for You), of which he is also the producer. The CD is released in August 2004 and all its songs have been written and arranged by Luca himself. Through this music Luca allows his public to look through his very soul. Through this new adventure Luca starts working with an Italian Christian association called La musica una missione (Music is a mission), with which he still works today, especially with the president and songwriter Debora Kaptein.
Between 2004 and 2008 Luca participates at many evangelistic concerts and events, as singer as well as guitar player, in Italy, Switzerland and Germany. At the same time he also tours with the group Reuel (2005, CD, Alla tua presenza – In your presence), with Wendell Warman (2006, CD, Cuore ardente – Burning heart) and with AEMB Music Project Studio (Taranto – his home ciry). In 2007 Luca presents a new song for the Christian compilation Ecco il sentiero vol. 2 (There is a way vol. 2), © CDM Italy, Turin.
Still in 2007 Luca starts working with two very important and well known Christian associations:

• International Association Cristo Regna (Christ Reigns), which works to promote and support, morally as well as financially, social, cultural and religious activities, at a regional and national level;
• Compassion Italia onlus, a branch of Compassion International, a Christian child sponsorship organization that works in 25 developing countries in 3 continents.

In 2009 Luca, besides participating to the production of Coprimi (Cover me), © Morning Star, Empoli (FI), singing the song that names the album, he starts working at his new album, Pensieri (Thoughts) which includes a variety of musical styles, all kept together by Luca’s personal experience with God, in his daily life and in today’s society.
The CD will be released in September 2009, is produced in cooperation with RE_VIVE Records (high quality Christian music), and the promotional tour will see the participation of different professional touring artists such as Tiziano Carfora, Giorgio Ammirabile, Fabio Ambrosino, Daniele De Cario, Davide Costantini, Marco Cuzzovaglia and Debora Kaptein.
